MIAMI-DADE COUNTY FLIPS:
NOW A REPUBLICAN-MAJORITY COUNTY

In a historic political shift, Miami-Dade County has officially transitioned from a Democrat-majority to a Republican-majority in voter registrations for the first time in modern history.

This significant milestone reflects a growing wave of conservative momentum across the region and highlights the Republican Party’s continued success in outreach, organization, and grassroots engagement in South Florida.

“This is a defining moment for Miami-Dade,” said Kevin J. Cooper, Chairman of the Republican Party of Miami-Dade County. “For decades, we were told it couldn’t be done—but the people of this county are speaking loud and clear. They want safer communities, economic freedom, liberty, and accountable leadership. This flip proves that our message is resonating.”

What was once a Democratic stronghold—long ignored and written off—is now the beating red heart of Florida’s Republican Revolution. In 2016, Republicans earned just 33.8% of the vote in Miami-Dade. But in 2024, President Donald J. Trump flipped Miami-Dade County, winning 55.19%—the first Republican to do so in 36 years.

That’s not a trend. That’s a tidal wave.

We credit this red wave to grassroots organizing, bold conservative leadership, and the growing influence of communities that have fled oppressive regimes. Cuban-, Venezuelan-, and Nicaraguan-American voters—many of whom know firsthand the dangers of socialism—have become a powerful voting bloc in favor of law, order, and economic freedom.

The county’s political realignment also reflects discontent with national Democratic policies. Jewish voters, concerned by the party’s silence on rising antisemitism and weakening support for Israel, have also played a role in this shift.

What was once considered unwinnable for Republicans is now a stronghold. Miami-Dade is represented by:

  • A Republican Governor and Cabinet

  • Two Republican U.S. Senators

  • Three Republican U.S. House members

  • Four Republican State Senators

  • Eleven Republican State Representatives

  • Dozens of Republican mayors and local officials

STATEMENT FROM
UNITED STATES SENATOR RICK SCOTT:

Miami-Dade County is officially RED!  First, I want to congratulate the Republican Party of Miami-Dade County. This is a major accomplishment. It is a testament to the fantastic grassroots we have in Miami. You all have done so much to help me in my races. You are the ones knocking on doors, getting out the vote, and fundraise. I was Governor only because of you. And now as US Senator, only because of you. Now we celebrate Miami turning Bright Red!

Congratulations!
